Scope

This policy covers the production BZZ.AM Android/iOS app, backend services used by the app, hive monitoring devices that send readings to our services, and the public marketing website.

Account and authentication data

If you register with email and password, we process your email address, password (stored by our authentication provider in hashed form), and the name fields you enter (first name, last name / full name).

If you sign in with Google, we receive account identifiers and profile information that Google and our auth provider return for that sign-in (typically email and display name).

We store a user profile linked to your account so the app can show your account and hive ownership.

Orders, payments, and shipping

When you place an order in the app store/checkout flow, we process customer name, email, phone number, shipping/delivery address details you enter or confirm (including structured address fields and, when you use address suggestions, a Google Place identifier), and order comments.

Payments are processed through Stripe. We use Stripe’s payment sheet / PaymentIntent flow. Card details are handled by Stripe; we receive payment status and related transaction identifiers needed to fulfill the order.

Google Pay may be offered where Stripe and your device support it.

Hive, device, and sensor data

For hives linked to your account we process hive metadata (such as name and notes you add) and monitoring readings from paired devices, including temperature, humidity, weight, device identifiers (for example device UID), connection/LAN information used to reach the device, and GPS status fields reported by the hive equipment.

Hive GPS coordinates: when the hive monitoring module reports GPS, those coordinates describe the hive equipment location and related GPS status. They are stored with the hive record so the app can show hive location and status.

Phone location is different: the app may request the phone’s location permission only when you choose to set or update a hive’s map location using “use my phone location.” That phone position is used to help you place the hive on the map and, if you save it, is stored as the hive’s location (with a source indicating phone vs manual map pick). We do not use continuous background tracking of the phone’s location for this feature.

Audio and cameras

Hive live audio: the app can play a live audio stream from the hive monitoring device (over the local network / device stream URL). Playback happens on your device for listening in the app. This policy does not claim that live audio is archived as cloud recordings unless a separate recording product is later documented.

Hive cameras: the app can display live camera streams associated with a hive (inside/outside stream URLs or live WebRTC playback where configured). Viewing is for live monitoring in the app. This policy does not claim that camera video is stored as cloud video archives unless a separate recording product is later documented.

Phone camera: the Android app requests the CAMERA permission for in-app features such as scanning QR codes during device/hive setup (via the scanner library), not to upload photos of your surroundings as a general photo product.

App security and on-device data

The app may store local preferences and secure on-device values (for example PIN lock material via secure storage) and may use the device biometric APIs (fingerprint/face unlock) to unlock the app on your device. Biometric templates remain on the device under the operating system’s control.

Website data

When you visit https://bzz.am, our hosting provider (Cloudflare Pages) processes standard technical request data needed to deliver the site (such as IP address, user agent, and access logs typical of CDN/hosting).

Website analytics

On https://bzz.am, Google Analytics 4 runs only after you allow analytics in the banner. Until then the analytics tag is not loaded.

When you allow it, a public page sends one page view: the page address without query parameters or fragments, a referrer cleaned the same way, and the public page title. We do not send account, dashboard, cart, checkout, or other private pages. We do not send hive identifiers, journal entries, form fields, email addresses, GPS coordinates, or sign-in parameters.

Advertising storage, ad user data, and ad personalization stay off. Choosing Buy now is not recorded as a completed sale.

The choice is stored in this browser. Use “Analytics choices” in the footer to allow or refuse later. If you refuse, Google Analytics is not loaded on later visits.

Why we process data

To create and secure your account and sign you in (including Google Sign-In).

To provide hive monitoring, history, alerts, maps, weather related to hive coordinates, live audio/camera viewing, and device activation/pairing.

To process store orders, calculate shipping after address entry, take payment via Stripe, and fulfill purchases.

To operate and secure the website and app backends.

To respond to support requests you send to us.

Who we share data with

BZZ.AM production backend — account sign-in, database, and related API functions.

Google — Google Sign-In / OAuth; Google Places-related address suggestion/place identifiers when you use address lookup in checkout; Google Pay when you choose that payment method through Stripe.

Stripe — payment processing.

Cloudflare — website hosting/CDN for https://bzz.am.

Google Analytics — measurement of public pages on https://bzz.am, only if you allow analytics.

We do not sell personal data.

Where and how data is stored

Account, hive, sensor, order, and related app data are stored in the BZZ.AM production backend and processed by its API.

Payment card data is processed by Stripe according to Stripe’s services.

Some preferences and security values are stored locally on your phone.

Website delivery and related technical logs are handled by Cloudflare for bzz.am.

Retention

We keep personal data while your account and related hive/order records are active and as needed to provide the service and meet legal or accounting obligations. Specific numeric retention periods for each data category are not separately published in this document; contact us if you need details for your account.

Your choices and deletion requests

You can allow or refuse website analytics, and change that choice later, from the banner or “Analytics choices” in the footer.

You can sign out of the app at any time.

You can control phone location and camera permissions in your device settings; denying phone location means you can still set hive location manually on the map where that feature is available.

To request deletion of your account or related personal data, email imbzzam@gmail.com from the email address associated with your BZZ.AM account and describe the request. We will review and process deletion or access requests through our support process.

Children

BZZ.AM is aimed at adults purchasing and operating beekeeping equipment and monitoring services. It is not directed at children.

Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy. The “Updated” date at the top of this page will change when we publish revisions. The current version is always available at https://bzz.am/privacy.
